We are continuously finishing and starting new projects. Check out some of the projects we are currently working on!
We have been experimenting with a variety of kombucha brewing techniques and recipes.
We started one SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) mama with one gallon jar of tea. We now have 10 gallons brewing that produce up to 36 bottles of delicious kombucha drink every 2-3 weeks. We hope this exponential rate of production can become something we can use to to quench our thirst over the summer, as well as provide long-term residual income for EarthRoots.
Canning, Pickling, & Dehydrating
During the summer, we are privileged to have access to abundant of locally grown and affordable fresh vegetables. We can, pickle, and dehydrate much of the harvest as we can for use in the fall and winter. This is also good way to store emergency rations in case of power outages or severe weather conditions.
Currently, we have 15 hens, 2 roosters, and 3 ducks. We are have a large chicken coop and pen as well as a duck run and pond. Our fabulous birds provide us with delicious fresh eggs. Extra eggs are sold to the friends and community to support EarthRoots. We hope to expand our animal raising project with additions such as goats, sheep, rabbits, honeybees, worms, etc.
